CHHATTISGARH
Chhattisgarh came in to existence in 1st November 2000 as the 26th state of India.It is the 10th largest state of India by the area. Capital of Chhattisgarh is Raipur. Chhattisgarh is bounded by Madhya Pradesh on the Northwest, Maharashtra on the West, Andhra Pradesh on the South, Orissa on the East, Jharkhand on the Northeast and Uttar Pradesh on the North.
The state lies in 17°46' N to 24°5'N latitude and 80°15' E to 84°20' E longitude.
In ancient times the region was known as Dakshin-Kausal. Ratanpur was the capital of Chhattisgarh at the ancient time, With the advent of Britishers Raipur gained prominence instead of capital Ratanpur. It is also said that the name Chhattisgarh is named because of 36 garh constituted by this region. These garh are located at both side of Shivnath river. They are 1- Ratanpur, 2- Vijaypur, 3- Kharound, 4- Maro,5- Kautgarh, 6- Nawagarh, 7- Sondhi, 8- Aukhar, 9- Padarbhatta, 10- Semriya, 11- Champa, 12- Lafa, 13- Chhuri, 14- Kenda, 15- Matin, 16-Aparora, 17- Pendra, 18-Kurkuti-kandri, 19- Raipur, 20-Patan, 21- Simaga, 22- Singarpur, 23- Lavan, 24- Omera, 25- Durg, 26- Saradha, 27- Sirasa, 28- Menhadi, 29-Khallari, 30- Sirpur, 31- Figeswar, 32- Rajim, 33- Singhangarh, 34- Suvarmar, 35- Tenganagarh and 36- Akaltara.
About 44 % of the area is covered by the forest, one third of them are sal. The major faorest products are teak, sal, bamboo, sheeshal, mahua, tamarind, haldu, saja, sheesham, and various herbs. The chaattisgarh is also known as the rice bowl of india. The major crops produced in the state are rice, sugarcane, banana, pulses, and wheat.
Chhattisgarh is the richest state in mineral resources with all major minerals including diamonds available in abundance.specially, Tin is only available in Chhattisgarh across india. Due to this many industries has grown significantly such as Bhilai Steel Plant, NTPC,SECL,Jindal Steel etc. one of the major cause of rapid industrialization is availability of the uninterrupted power supply.Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country with uninterrupted power supply.Chhattisgarh total power generation capacity is at present is 1924-7 Megawatt.
Chhattisgarh is also prominent in the field of the Information technology. ChiPS is the prime mover of information technology growth in Chhattisgarh with its various project like SWAN – State wide area network, CHOiCE- It provides all citizen cervices from a single window.
Chhattisgarh also known for its cultural heritage and its natural diversity. Ancient temple,natural caves, beautiful waterfalls In Chhattisgarh there is Three National Parks and 11 Sanctuaries area,such as Kanger Valley National Park, Barnawapara, Sitanadi, Udanti and Achanakmar Sanctuaries. The endangered Wild Buffalo (Bubalis bubalis) and the even more endangered Hill Myna (Graculis religiosa peninsularis) are the State and State Bird, respectively.
The Indian railways have established a new Railway Zone named 'South East Central Railway' with its headquarters at Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. SECR zone is the one of the most revenue generating zone for railways.Raipur is Also linked by regular flights with New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubneshwar, Nagpur, Bhopal, Indore, Ahmedabad & Hyderabad.
